Do good things. Drink great coffee.

Coffee is about people as much as it is about the land: the farmers who plant and harvest it—often alongside family—the coffee roasters, and you, the coffee consumer. Together, we form the circle of coffee from plants to people.

At Máquina, we harness the power of great coffee to do good on this planet. Because we are connected by coffee, land, and culture, we believe exceptional coffee and the reach of human empathy go hand in hand.

Máquina is a machine for good.

Coffee is beyond just a consumable product—it's fleeting, ethereal, and elusive. It's relationships, ritual, connection, and so much more. Coffee is a way to connect with our roots, extended family, and ourselves.

Coffee is full of stories—ones of people, places, and deep land-based knowledge handed down by multiple generations. Stories that require us to listen and open our hearts to learn from each other. Stories that encourage us to be open to new sensory experiences with flavors that can be both wild and a source of core memories.

Máquina strives to honor the stories from deep within coffee through thoughtful and careful sourcing, roasting, creating, and nurturing relationships with the coffee community we work with and the producers we buy from year after year. We want to share the beautiful landscapes coffee comes from, the stories of the wholehearted and hard-working people who grow it, and the joy in the flavors of each selection we make. Through our coffee stories, we hope to inspire you to be your best and most compassionate version of yourself every day.

We invite you to join us in making the world a better place by sharing the stories of our producing partners and giving back as often as we can to causes we believe in. We believe coffee can change the world one bag and one cup at a time.

When you purchase coffee from Máquina, you’re not only supporting the incredible farmers and producers who dedicate their lives to providing this beautiful crop, but you’re also supporting organizations we care about.
These include:

Planned Parenthood · ACLU · Color of Change · NAACP · Audre Lorde Project

A Conscious Evolution of the Máquina Brand

Máquina continues to grow as a meaningful company. As part of our evolution, we have created new branding and packaging that is beautiful, simple, and straightforward.

Our new bag makes it clear that what is inside reflects hard work, multi-generational knowledge, and magic. The side gussets are a special part of the bag as they show a topographic map of my homeland, Puerto Rico. The original hand logo has been retooled to encompass both the agricultural aspect of the coffee (the flower) and the work of bringing the coffee to the consumer (the drop). For our “máquina” logotype, we wanted a much more approachable and readable typeface, and the one we’ve chosen reminds us of great writers, books, and stories. Coffee is about stories and we went for a typeface that reflected the quiet, joyful moments of reading while sipping on a great cup of coffee. The lowercase “m” in “máquina” is to express our humility—we don’t have it all figured out, and we are constantly learning from others and we will remain curious always. The Máquina blue has shifted from a mechanic’s blue to a more ethereal teal hue—the color of deep waters and dreams—that speaks to me being an island person at my core and a natural-born dreamer.

As our understanding of our brand and the work it represents has matured, so too has our aesthetic, and our intention is that it captures our efforts from farm to cup. This rebrand was a collaboration between myself and a close friend who believes in doing great work with great people, which is what coffee is ultimately about.
